A New Bishop for the Orthodox Archdiocese of Spain and Portugal


Constantinople - On the proposal of His All-Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate elected on January 12th 2005 the young Archimandrite Hilarion Rudnik (from ukranian descent and dean of the Orthodoxe Parish of Saint Panteleimon in Porto - Portugal) as assistant bishop of the Metropolitan Epiphanios of Spain and Portugal, with the title of ³Bishop of Telmisos³. The new bishop was born in Ukraine in 1972, but graduated from the Theological Faculty of the University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and was ordained to the diaconate by Metropolitan Panteleimon of Tyroloïs and Serention (Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Vlatadon in Thessaloniki) and to the priesthood by Archbishop Vsevolod of Skopelos (Chicago).

His episcopal ordination shall take place in Constantinople on Saturday 29th January.
