BIOGRAPHY:

His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios was born in Arta in 1929. In 1947 he entered the Theological School of Athens University and graduated in 1951. From 1953 till 1954 he served the Religious Service in the Army. On 26th June 1956 he was ordained as a monk in the Lemen Monastery and on 29th June the late Metropolitan of Mythimni Constantine ordained him Deacon and he was appointed preacher of the Holy Metropolis of Mythimni. On 12th June 1960 he was ordained Reverend. In 1968 he was appointed Protosigelos (Secretary to the Archbishop) of Athens' Holy Archdiocese and at the same time he was the Head Vicar of the Athens Cathedral Church. In December 1973 he was transferred, after he applied, at the Church of Holy Skepi in Papagos in Athens. On 23rd September 1975 he was appointed Head Vicar of the St Nicolas Church of Seoul and Head of the "Orthodox Eastern Mission" of Far East, by the Archbishop of New Zealand and Exarch of Korea Mgr Dionysios. From 1986 till 1996 he served as the Head Administrator of the "Orthodox Eastern Mission" Organisation after he was introduced by the Archbishop and Metopolitan of New Zealand Mr Dionysios. During the above mentioned duty he cared for the expansion of the Orthodox Mission in the Far East's countries. From 1982 till 1996 he was the Administrator of Seoul's Theological Seminar. In February 1993 he was ordained as a Bishop and the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate elected him as Bishop Zelon. He was also placed as Assistant Bishop to the Archbishop and Metropolitan of New Zealand Mr Dionysios, in Korea. In 1995 he was appointed Head Administrator of the “Korean Foundation of the Ecumenical Exarchate” of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Korea.
